We find as many different hobbies as there are people. And each hobby gives different benefits such as relaxing, reducing stress, boosting confidence or improving a skill. If you have exercising as a hobby, then it will benefit you during your period cramps or pms. As it relaxes your body and reduces stress for some, this helps endure your cramps better. Based on a research by Dr. Matthew Jergenson, Karvinen and her team. Leisure time physical activity gives a healthier blood lipid profile and reduces cardiovascular risk after menopause. However, the authors note that the positive changes in lipid profile aren't enough to completely counter the negative changes in lipid profile that menopause often brings. Hence one shouldn't forget sport-related hobbies at time of life. Let's have a look on some benefits of hobbies.

Benefits of Hobbies

Physical

Physical hobbies have clear physiological benefits because they increase both your vital sign and brain function. Other benefits include weight loss, building muscle, strengthening, an overall increase in energy etc.

Examples: hiking, camping, swimming, yoga, or martial arts.

Mental and Emotional

Hobbies help decrease your stress by relaxing and taking your mind off the pressing concerns of lifestyle.

Examples: gardening, being attentive to music, painting or drawing, cooking.

Social and Interpersonal

Social hobbies facilitate bonds with others and add another layer of support to your life serving to scale back stress.

Examples: exploring new restaurants, seeing movies, discussing philosophy, trying new technology, playing music.

Creativity

This can be especially helpful for people that don't have any creative outlets at their work. Engaging in an exceedingly creative hobby can help train your brain to be more creative in other areas of your life.

Examples: soap making, scented candle making, quilting, calligraphy.

Self-Improvement

Some people enjoy hobbies that give them the chance to boost their confidence level, boost their self-esteem, and improve their quality of life.

Examples: Meditation, solving puzzles, Journaling, cooking, traveling.

Choosing a Hobby

If you're curious about devoting a while and energy to a hobby but don't yet have one, consider the items you enjoy, things that interest you, and maybe stuff you would love to improve upon. Following questions could be helpful in narrowing your choices for a hobby:

  • Do you enjoy competition?

  • Do you opt to enjoy a doing things alone or with others?

  • Is there a selected skill you'd prefer to develop?

  • Are there stuff you enjoyed doing in your childhood that you simply would really like to revisit?

  • In what ways does one want your hobby to challenge or change you?

  • How much time are you able to devote to your new hobby?

  • How much money are you able to invest in your new hobby?

  • With what styles of people would you prefer to interact?

  • What forms of benefits would you wish your hobby to provide?

Along with health benefits, some hobbies can also provide how to save lots of or make money. For instance, to save lots of money you'll refurbish items you discover at a yard sale or grow your own vegetables. To gain money, you'll sell the images you're taking or the cakes you bake.

Every person has some or the other hobby. Hobbies can be one person’s me time whereas for another it can just be a time to relax from the busy day. What does your hobby mean to you? For me its creative challenge, that will help me grow and learn new things about myself and my hobby. A challenge where I’m not restricted; a challenge where there are no rules and regulations, where I can put all my ideas in the way I love on a piece of paper. No it’s not writing, its painting for me.

Painting is not considered that important but every activity has challenges; it can be small or too big. Challenges are not taken for the future success, it is taken for the present, it is for your growth, it is for your liking, and of course it’s for YOU! Admire your challenges; admire the process in doing that challenge, admire the process of becoming a new and better you, admire the process of learning something new, something that you love.

Hobbies doesn’t seem to be one with challenges it seems pretty easy to me cause it’s as per your liking but as you keep working on it you will come to know the challenges. For example, if you love reading, every time you read you come across particular words or sentences whose meaning you won’t know, so you will search it up through Google or dictionary, while searching you will firstly come across the meaning of the word that you were searching, secondly, you will come across its synonyms and many other new words. So, basically there was an obstacle of word, you overcome it, you learn from it, you improve your vocabulary, you grew from it, from time to time you discover new abilities, and so on. Isn’t that interesting!

Hobbies not only make you grow and understand better about yourself and your abilities but it also helps you escape the negative room and may help you in improving you mental wellbeing. Here’s how, after doing your favorite activity for example playing your favorite sports, listen to your favorite music playlist, dance on your favorite song, read your favorite book or paint your own ideas we feel refreshed and energized. Studies have shown that people who spend time on the activities that they like, they tend to be less likely to suffer from low mood, anxiety, depression and stress.

Ever feeling low, do your favorite activity to lighten up your mood, you can get through the hard times cause hard times don’t last long, you'll will be fine. Keep going you have got this!!
